Steuben County Building Permits

In order to obtain a building permit in Steuben County, you need to get the following letters/permits in the order listed below:


1. A well and /or septic permit if needed or a letter of non-objection from the Health Department.

2. If you are on a waste district, you all need a letter of consent from the District.

3. If there will be a driveway approach, you will need an approval letter from the State or County Highway Department.

4. A ditch encroachment release from the Surveyors office.

REQUIRED DRAWINGS 

Detailed and scaled site and building plans must accompany all applications. Site plan to include the size and location of new construction, existing buildings, existing or proposed locations of on-site septic systems of components and well, distances from lot lines, distance from county regulated drains or tiles, established street grade sand proposed finish grades; and it shall be drawn in accordance with an accurate boundary line survey. Building plans shall include floor plans, exterior elevations, plumbing, heating electrical layouts and sufficient detail to show all construction methods and materials.
