SRT TEAM:
Special Response Tactical Team - Most commonly known as a SWAT Team HISTORY: We were formed in January 1996 and started out as an eight man entry team. We were developed as a Raid Team. We only handled Drug Raids, High Risk Search Warrants, and High Risk Arrested Warrants. When we first started out we were only trained to conducted dynamic entries. Dynamic entries are entering a building and over coming the people inside with speed and surprise. In the fall of 1998 we received training in how to handle Barricaded Subjects, Hostage Situations, Covered Piles, Vehicle Assaults, Buss Assaults, Stealth Entries and Less-Lethal Options for Suicidal Subjects. TEAMS PURPOSE: The SRT Team is used when a situation calls for special equipment and special training to handle a particular situation.
One of the reasons we are a specialized team is because of the equipment and weapons we are trained with. Some of the special equipment that we have are breaching tools we use such as: Rams, pry bars, Hooligan tools, sled hammers, and the lock buster rounds. Some special equipment we have is the protective gear we wear: ie: Kevlar Helmet, Nomax Hoods and Gloves with are Fire resistance and cut resistance. Knee and Elbow Pads, Boots to protect our ankles, Goggles, and a bullet proof entry vest with ceramic plate. Special Weapons that we have are: Cold Sub-machine Guns, Colt AR-15, Entry Shotguns (cut down), 37mmRiot Gun and our handguns have flashlights mounted on them. Most all of our entry weapons are equipped with flashlights. |
