General Information
- In Indiana, real estate and personal property taxes are
assessed one year, payable the next. So if you purchase property after
March 1st of the pervious year, the bill will not come in your name for 2
years. (If bought March 2, 2001, the bill will not be in your name
until 2003). Therefore if you are responsible for the tax bill you
need to contact the treasurer's office, we can send the tax bill to you, by
putting it "in care of" C/O.
- Name changes, and exemptions are handled in the County
Auditor's office.
- When paying by mail, include a self-addressed stamped
envelope and we will return your receipts to you.
- We must have a tax statement to enter your payment, if you
do not have a tax bill, we must print one, it is called a "C"
copy, and there is a $1.00 charge per "C" copy.
- Copies of tax receipts are $.10 each.
- Insufficient fund fees are $25.00

for renewals. For transfers, taxes must be paid for the year, as well
